Designing for Neuro-inclusive Workplaces: A Focus on Flooring

This seminar provides design considerations when specifying floor coverings for neuro-inclusive work environments. The presentation starts by explaining what neurodiversity means and the challenges and opportunities neurodivergent employees present for the workplace. It goes on to review the legislation relating to neuro-inclusive design and key sensitivities that architects and designers need to be aware of when designing and specifying floor coverings for a neurodivergent workforce. With example installations, the seminar illustrates how floor coverings can best support the design of neuro-inclusive workspaces. By the end of this CPD delegates should: 1. Understand what neurodiversity means and why it matters for designing workplaces. 2. Know the relevant standards and legislation relating to the design of neuro-inclusive interiors. 3. Be aware of the factors that should be considered when specifying floor covering products for a neurodiverse workforce. 4. Know how the floor plane can best be used as part of a neuro-inclusive interior. 5. Have a better understanding of how thoughtful design can improve the comfort, focus and efficiency of neurodivergent employees.
