Infection Prevention Control and Interior finishes: Flooring Considerations

This CPD aims to provide an understanding of the purpose of IPC (Infection, Prevention and Control). It looks at the threat antimicrobial resistance poses and how this is leading to an increase in healthcare associated infections. It equips the attendee with the information needed to evaluate what should be deemed as a high versus low risk area or surface - which will then determine what floor finish should be specified. It looks at antimicrobial assays, what these standards actually mean and the importance of the responsible use of antimicrobials. Finally, it examines the Clean Hospitals initiative.
