Sustainable Foundations – Specifying materials for building a greener future.

Description

The CPD will teach architects how to make environmentally conscious choices when specifying building materials. The key topics will be embodied carbon and operational carbon, LCAs, end-of-life considerations and some additional insights. We will also present some real-world examples of projects that exemplify sustainability principles, highlighting both successes and challenges in the industry. By the end of this CPD delegates should have: 1. Learnt how to make environmentally conscious choices when specifying building materials. 2. Learnt the difference between embodied and operational carbon. 3. Learnt how to interpret and understand LCAs, a crucial tool for evaluating the environmental impact of building materials. 4. Gained some additional insights and strategies that go beyond the scope of an LCA. 5. Seen some real-world examples of projects that exemplify sustainability principles, highlighting both successes and challenges in the industry.
