The third CPD in the 'Making it. Beautifully' series, part 3 delves into the role of beauty in the design of elderly care. Aiming for beauty in the built environment has important health and well-being benefits that have perhaps been overlooked in the provision of elderly care. In this CPD we explore the importance of community in carving out a more forward-thinking, inclusive UK ‘care model’ that could, at long last, help revolutionise the design and delivery of products, services and settings that empower our elderly to truly ‘live’ for longer. By the end of the CPD you should have a greater understanding of: - Understand our aging population’s holistic needs - Appreciate the benefits of community-led care - Learn from innovative overseas models - Cover the specifics of designing for dementia - Gain confidence in selecting surfaces for care settings, with particular focus on slip resistance, colour and contrast
