This CPD will discuss linseed paint. It will cover this history of the paint; why and where it was originally used and why it fell out of fashion. It will then move to explore why it works so well and why it should be used again on both historic and newbuild properties. By the end of the CPD you should have a greater understanding of: - How linseed paint is made and how it works technically - in particular why it lets moisture wick out and therefore prevents rot - Why it is used by large estates - Why it is not only environmentally friendly but also cost effective - Where and how to use it - Basic application methods and guidelines for application - How to write successful NBS specifications for the use of linseed paint on historic and new builds.
